The pomposity of a brilliant thinker who lacks a knack for stringing two sentences together. Withoutabox Submit to Film Festivals. Feynman” so I thought I would read this one as well. Richard Phillips Feynman was an American physicist known for the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as work in particle physics he proposed the parton model. If yes, how much common?
You only think you know, as a matter of fact. Felt a slight sting at an apparent attempt to simply bind together yet-unpublished-in-book-form texts, whereever they may be found and sell it with a “by Richard Feynman” tag. But there is no certainty.
Let me honest and admit here and now that in matters relating to science I am woefully ignorant. The women in this book are only there to whine to their researcher husband or to do simple manual work! It is not odd at all. I listened to this book as an audiobook, and found the theoretical discussions too difficult to follow by ear it would have been easier to see themand the human stories revealed attitudes that ranged from amusing to annoying in their pseudo-humble arrogance.
Thi I have held off on posting this review because I was never really sure what I a wanted to say about this book. During his lifetime and after his death, Feynman became one of the most publicly known scientists in the world.

I didn’t finish it because it seems to have plader lot of the same stories as the other book. He was clearly a genius, but descubrie few insightful observations, witty anecdotes and interesting facts about his life that are captured here do not – in my opinion – make it worth the odd pages. You can imagine my surp Whatever your opinion of Feynman, you need to reconcile the fact that he’s got unbearably retrograde opinions: And a question requires doubt.
He was a bona fide genius, not just in Physics, but also in life. He also speaks quite candidly and openly of his feynmqn on the Manhattan Project. It is VERY disappointing for such a great mind who believes in doubts and scientific approach to believe so strongly and inherently that women cannot be scientists. I used to sit in the cafeteria with the students and eat and try to overhear fetnman conversations and see if there was one intelligent word coming out. I love reading Dr.

From the conversation in the cafeteria to wherever Feynman addresses the audience in his speech, there is descubir sexism going on. Why have they used “girls” as calculators just to do simple repe I’d have given it a 5 star if there were not so many backward opinions about women in it.
In fact, the book bills itself as the best of his shorter works but some of the pieces were transcripts of interviews so they really weren’t his works at all. And most of your actions are based on incomplete knowledge and you really don’t know what it is all about, or what the purpose of the world is, or know a great plaacer of other things.

It’s mostly a collection of lectures or interview transcripts and it doesn’t read all that well good job none of the stuff in this book was particularl Really disappointed with this. Overall, having been such a fan of Feynman for years, I still remain one, but I’m deeply disappointed at the way one of my role models viewed females. Discover Prime Book Box for Kids. Feynman shines when he talks about physics, his Lectures books are impressive, masterful, but there’s is very little of that in this book.
She figured out where the intersection was! Given his relentless and admirable pursuit of good scientific principles and rationality it amazed me that his assumption was that the female mind was inherently less capable of grasping mathematical principles, without considering that it might be related to differential cultural expectations and upbringing. I listened to a conversation between two girls, and one was explaining that if you want to make a straight line, you see, ee go over a certain number to the right for each row you go up, that is, if you go over each time the same amount when you go up a row, you make a straight line.
