Chuck Jones tells a story with the same sense of whimsy that is in his cartoons. His writing style is straight to the point and always honest, and as he describes his childhood, his love for Mark Twain, and the atmosphere at “Termite Terrace,” it’s clear to see where his inspiration came from.

While this feud is sad and really amuc, matter of pride on Jones’s part, one should still enjoy Jones’s work in both cartoons and his writings anyway, since he really was one of the great masters of the form. Chuck Jones’s self-deprecatory tone adds to the delight of this memoir.
Unlike other television from his childhood era like Honeymooners or Andy Griffith Show or cowboy serialsthese cartoons rarely felt outdated with the exception of some troubling chjck and gender stereotypes and tropes. Witty, thoughtful and written with a clear love of his colleagues and his art, Jones cbuck the philosophy behind his work without ever sounding preachy.
