Chjme is Briony, really? I’m probably not getting myself through, but like i posted in a status update, Oscar’s Wilde quote; “I’m so clever that sometimes i don’t understand a single word of what i’m saying” would most certainly apply to certain parts of this story.
And she kept this a secret. And everything starts to change.
This, to me, is Hell. Nov 24, Nafiza rated it it was amazing Shelves: Open Preview See a Problem? Perhaps the National Book Award committee was wrestling with similar feelings, and billingsleg is what led to the gaffe.

Rose lives in her own world, acting like a child after bilingsley accident that affected her mind when she was young. Not only that, the creatures who dwell in the swamp are real and very, very dangerous. Not good for children It was sort of violent, with danger, and it’s kind of scary I wouldn’t recommend it for younger kids. Why has he arrived precisely at the time he does? Now, if you please. CHIME by Franny Billingsley | Kirkus Reviews
Briony carries around a lot of guilt for the pain she believes she causes to those around her. Individual readers will have their own tolerances for the playing around with language and meaning and, frankly, poetry the author attempts and may be less entertained by it. I loved Chime so much I do not have words. The whole cast of characters, the world, chimw interactions are all what you call “quirky,” but many I would call bizarre. And the ambience was just so dreary, and Briony was so depressing as she fretted over foolish, foolish things like the Bleeding hearts not using articles and proper sentence structure.
She feels a terrible responsibility to protect the swamp creatures whose lives are threatened by the plans for the railroad that threaten their swamp home. Ironic, because this is precisely what Briony does.
Briony starts to see herself in a new light when Eldric arrives to live with her family. I felt that Briony’s inner thoughts and actions made sense and were an entirely accurate representation of what the lasting effects of emotional abuse can do to a person.
